The Very Rev. Bill McClure
Living on the “sunrise side”, folks in Alpena are ever reminded of the possibilities for new beginnings every day. Trinity Episcopal Church has been experiencing the beginning of a new era in the life of the congregation under the leadership of their new Rector, The Very Reverend William J. McClure, Jr., a.k.a. “Father Bill” or “Bill” (depending on whether you’re feeling catholic or protestant). The “Very” before his traditional title indicates his role as a regional Dean in the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Michigan.
Bill hails from Gladwin, Michigan, and comes to Alpena by way of Cheboygan, Michigan, where he was Rector of St. James’ Episcopal Church for thirteen and a half years. There he married his wife, Deborah, in 2006 and was blessed as a new addition to a family with a son, daughter and granddaughter. Since then, a new grandson has been born into the family. Bill loves to sing and often works a song or two into his sermons. He sings in the Trinity Church Choir, Besser Male Chorus and the Thunder Bay Arts Council Community Chorus. Other interests include, theater, music, movies, sports, walking, swimming, kayaking, and hunting or fishing on occasion. “Deb” shares similar interests, with the exception of sports, hunting and fishing, also likes to read, knit, and has vast experience as a church pianist/organist and office manager.
